Join us at Norfolk Wine & Spirits on Friday, July 15th at 6:30 p.m. for an agave spirits tasting led by Arik Torren, founder of Fidencio Mezcal and importer of Mezcal Derrumbes and La Venenosa Raicilla.

About Fidencio:
Fidencio Mezcal has four generations of knowledge and they use their own estate grown agave. Fabrica de Amigo del Mezcal is the name of the distillery/palenque that produces Fidencio Mezcal. Fidencio Jiménez, the namesake for Fidencio Mezcal, started making mezcal over 100 years ago when he moved to Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca. He began to live the life of a Mezcalero, learning from peers and by trial-and-error. He worked closely with his son Enrique to perfect their craft and to pass down their knowledge to the next generation. In those days, even the equipment was from the land: clay pots for fermentation, distillation & storage and river reeds for tubing.

Being the most biodiverse Appellation of Origin in the world, every mezcal producing region offers its unique stamp into the tapestry. We delight in offering an abundant expression of the rich soils and climates as well as the exuberant diversity of agave species and production techniques that constitute this magnificent ancestral spirit.

Each bottle of Derrumbes represents a single state and each was chosen to highlight the traditions, the Terroir and organoleptic style of the region where it was made, creating together a mind grabbing experience of variety and nuances.

About La Venenosa:
Produced for over 500 years in the Mexican state of Jalisco, Raicilla is a Mezcal that adopted a new name in the 1780’s to avoid a tax levied by the Spanish Crown. Jalisco offers a plethora of agave species, second only to Oaxaca. These, along with great diversity in terroir, equipment and techniques, give Raicilla an amazing spectrum of flavour and history.

La Venenosa Raicilla range was created by Chef Esteban Morales to bring these hidden jewels to the global market. Esteban traversed the state in search of the best producers in each region. Every one of these Raicilla expressions is unique; created by different Maestro Taberneros in distinct regions, from different species of agave using diverse techniques, the individual results are astounding.
