Lunazul Hybrid Tequila Tasting (February 16, 2021)

Join us virtually or in-person on Tuesday, February 16th at 7:00 PM for a Lunazul Tequila tasting with Master Distiller Francisco Quijano!

In the 1700s, Jose Antonio Cuervo founded the first tequila distillery in Mexico. Juan Beckmann Gallardo, descendant of Jose Antonio and sole administrator of Cuervo Distillery, worked for decades to promote the spread of Tequila. Beckmann passed away in 1972, leaving the company to his four children, including Francisco.

In 1992, Francisco Beckmann sold his stake of the Cuervo Distillery, but kept his share of agave fields to establish a new business. Twelve years later he founded Tierra de Agaves Distillery, home of Lunazul. Lunazul tequilas are aged in Bourbon barrels to add a rich depth of flavor. Aging times vary by tequila – Blanco is unaged, Reposado is ‘rested’ for six months, and Añejo and Primero are aged for 12-18 months.

Pickup will be available at Norfolk Wine & Spirits starting at 5:00 PM on Friday, February 12th. Delivery of tasting kits to those within our free local delivery range will be made before 6:00 PM on Tuesday, February 16th.

The Zoom link will be sent to participants after they’ve purchased their take-home tasting kits. Must be of legal drinking age (21+) to participate. No refunds.

Due to unprecedented times, in-person attendance is limited to a total of 10 guests with a maximum group size of two persons. This will be a seated event to ensure adequate distancing between groups. The Curry House has asked for masks to be worn at all times, with the exception of when guests are seated at their table.
