Wolfburn ex-Bourbon Single Cask #430 (9 Year Old, 56.90% ABV)

We proudly present the first US Exclusive Single Cask from Wolfburn specially selected by ImpEx Beverages. Cask #540 was distilled in May of 2015 in Thurso. It then slumbered for 9 years in a first-fill Bourbon Barrel before being bottled exclusively for the US Market.

TASTING NOTES

ON THE NOSE
Initially overtones of light peat smoke mix with sweet Bourbon notes. Hints of coffee and dark chocolate follow, all subtly overlaid with vanilla.

ON THE PALATE
Rich Bourbon notes come to the fore, with overtones of toffee and vanilla. Fruity sweetness coats the palate, with Autumn fruit and honey flavors giving a rich beautiful bouquet.

FINISH
The finish does not disappoint; dried fruit and vanilla flavors remain to the end and are neatly overlaid with gentle hints of lingering peat smoke.

Wolfburn is the most Northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland. Originally founded in 1821, all of Wolfburn’s Single Malt whiskies are made the traditional way: without haste, by hand, and with a huge emphasis on quality. The results are superb, and Wolfburn’s special releases are consistent winners of international spirits competitions.

Wolfburn’s smooth and easy-drinking character stems from the way it is made. Long fermentation is followed by slow and gentle distillation to makes a pure, smooth spirit. Maturation takes place in purpose-built warehouses just a short distance from the sea.
