Uncle Nearest Cognac Cask Premium Whiskey

Uncle Nearest Cognac Cask Premium Whiskey

Cask Strength | Small Batch | XO Cognac Cask Finish | Tennessee Whiskey

Uncle Nearest Cognac Cask brings together Tennessee whiskey and some particularly interesting French oak. This special release begins with the mash bill used for Uncle Nearest 1884, followed by additional maturation in XO Cognac casks from the Fins Bois and Borderies regions of France.

These casks previously held XO Cognac and contribute layers of fruit, floral character and mature French oak to the richness and spice of the American whiskey. The finished whiskey is then presented as a cask-strength, small-batch release.

XO Cognac Cask Finish

The Cognac casks come from two recognized Cognac growing regions:

• Borderies — the smallest Cognac cru, particularly associated with aromatic and floral character.
• Fins Bois — known for producing expressive, fruit-driven Cognacs.

The result is an interesting meeting of two traditions: the caramel, spice and oak of American whiskey alongside the fruit, aromatics and complexity developed through maturation in French Cognac casks.

Uncle Nearest

Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey honors Nearest Green, recognized by the brand as the first known African American master distiller. Since launching in 2017, Uncle Nearest has become one of the most highly awarded names in American whiskey.

The 1884 Small Batch expression at the foundation of this release is curated by Victoria Eady Butler, fifth-generation descendant of Nearest Green and Master Blender for Uncle Nearest.
