The release
This is Tri Carragh’s single cask Lochindaal, distilled at Bruichladdich in 2009 and matured for 16 years in a first-fill bourbon barrel. Bottled at 57.8% ABV, the outturn is 215 bottles.

“Lochindaal” is a peated Bruichladdich spirit style from the late 2000s, described by the bottler as peated to 50 PPM and produced in very limited quantity. The result is an Islay dram that leans into coastal smoke, sweetness from bourbon oak, and a long, persistent finish.

Bruichladdich was founded in 1881 on Islay and revived in the modern era with a reopening in 2001. The distillery has been owned by Rémy Cointreau since 2012.

Nose
