The GlenAllachie The Sinteis Series 2014 Chinquapin & PX Cask Matured — 57.8% ABV
The GlenAllachie Sinteis Series 2014 Chinquapin & Pedro Ximénez Cask Matured is the inaugural release in GlenAllachie’s limited-edition Sinteis Series, an exploration of how two dramatically different cask types can work together to create something greater than either alone.
Sinteis (pronounced sin-teesh) means “synthesis” in Scottish Gaelic, reflecting Master Distiller Billy Walker’s approach of marrying contrasting yet complementary styles of oak.
For this first release, 2014-vintage GlenAllachie single malt matured in Chinquapin virgin oak barrels is combined with whisky matured in first-fill Pedro Ximénez Sherry puncheons. Chinquapin is a native American oak sourced from the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, known for contributing bold spice and aniseed character, while the PX casks bring layers of dark fruit, chocolate and intense sweetness.
The result is a powerful, richly textured Speyside single malt balancing dark fruits, chocolate and molasses with butterscotch, citrus and warming oak spice.
Presented at its natural cask strength of 57.8% ABV, the whisky is bottled at natural color and without chill filtration.

Two Distinct Casks. One Harmonious Synthesis.
The first chapter of the Sinteis Series captures Billy Walker’s fascination with wood management particularly well. The assertive spice and structure of virgin Chinquapin oak meet the dense, fruit-laden richness of Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks, producing a muscular yet balanced GlenAllachie with considerable depth.
At 57.8% cask strength, this is an especially compelling release for fans of bold GlenAllachie, active oak and richly sherried single malt.
