Teaninich 8 Years ‘Daring Rye’ (60.3%, OB, Diageo Special Releases 2025)

First single grain Scotch whisky from Teaninich matured in ex-bourbon casks

Nose: Creamy vanilla with a touch of silage as well as chaff and straw. Then notes of hard candy, maybe melon-flavoured or perhaps some orange ones as well. Finally a whiff of Werther’s Original. Very elegant.
Taste: A bit thin, especially relative to it’s abv and others in this lineup. Biscuits with a mixture of fresh fruits such as apple and pears, alongside hints of white pepper, hay, dextrose and a whisper of mint. Then a sliver of coconut, charred oak and ginger.
Finish: Relatively short. Malt sugars and a hint of orchard fruits.
