West Cork Irish Whiskey Hybrid Tasting & Cocktails (March 26, 2021)

Join us on Friday, March 26th, at 7:00 PM, for a hybrid tasting of West Cork Irish Whiskey with Brand Manager Alex Thibault, virtually via Zoom or in-person at The Curry House (Franklin, MA).

Based in Skibbereen, Ireland, the company was founded in 2003 by childhood friends, John O’Connell, Denis McCarthy and Ger McCarthy and has since grown to a team of over 100 people. West Cork is currently the largest wholly Irish owned distillery in the country.

Distilling began in a small room at the back of Den’s house in 2003 and it wasn’t until 2014 that the operation moved to Market Street in Skibbereen. As the business expanded, much of the distillery equipment was hand built as needed, such as the Rocket, reported to be ‘the fastest still in the world’ at the time.

Eight pot stills and two column stills produce almost 4 million litres of alcohol (LPA) annually. A further three stills are dedicated to gin. Five bottling lines operate 24 hours per day, six days per week. Every hour, there are 2,000 bottles processed on site. Seven warehouses, which are all located on site at the distillery in Skibbereen, store up to 55,000 casks as needed.

West Cork Bourbon Cask has a delicate blend of grain (75%) and malt (25%) whiskey matured in bourbon casks, with a slight citrus and cracked pepper aroma. A smooth and balanced whiskey, the taste is one of malt, lingering sweetness, citrus, apple and nutmeg.

Pickup will be available at Norfolk Wine & Spirits starting at 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 21st. Delivery of tasting kits to those within our free local delivery range will be made before 6:00 PM on Friday, March 26th.

The Zoom link will be sent to participants after they’ve purchased their take-home tasting kits. Must be of legal drinking age (21+) to participate. No refunds.

Due to unprecedented times, in-person attendance is limited to a total of 10 guests with a maximum group size of two persons. This will be a seated event to ensure adequate distancing between groups. The Curry House has asked for masks to be worn at all times, with the exception of when guests are seated at their table.
