Samaroli – Islay 2017 Edition – Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (99% Laphroaig, Bottled in 2017, 390 Bottles, 43% ABV)

Our young man is now a veteran among our bottlings. Like every year, this blend represents our Ode to youth… We like to carry on ancient traditions with a suave, brazen, devil-may-care approach. Of course, that’s not automatically a virtue in itself, but we’re so often surprised when we hear people say that a young whisky doesn’t deserve an important position in a bottler’s warehouse.

Third edition of this young Scottish novice. Blend composed largely of Laphroaig. The predominant medicinal and iodine component nonetheless marries well with the overall aromatic structure that supports and accompanies it. Medicinal herbs, vanilla and leather base notes mingle with liquorice in a perfect corollary. Excellent persistence on the palate, where the typical salty notes of Islay prevail. Lingers very long despite its youthful age, which quivers in the glass. It wins us over with its balsamic scents, rich in pungent hints of oregano, sesame and marjoram.

Misquoting Cicero, I would say that good Spirits are the food of youth and the delight of old age.

Bottled in Scotland in 2017. 99% Laphroaig (HHD). Just 390 bottles have been produced. 43% ABV (86 Proof).
