The Norfolk Whisky Group’s Cask Exploration Series continues with our friends of Privateer in Ipswich, MA. We picked a few casks back in 2020, during the worst part of the pandemic, via Zoom with former Master Distiller Maggie Campbell.
The first one was Quarumtime Buccaneers, the second one was a rum finished in a Laphroaig cask, the third cask was a rum matured in #3 charred American Oak. The last ones we picked were finished in ex-Armagnac cask. We were provided with samples frequently and finally, in the Fall of 2021, the maturity (and complexity) was incredible.
The distillery wanted us to wait one more harvest cycle until the cask turned 5 years old, but we loved it so much already that we convinced them to bottle half of the cask in 2021. It was not easy to convinced them, but we managed to do it. So, now in 2022, we are delighted to introduced you to Privateer Revolution Batch II, a Norfolk Whisky Group Exclusive Rum.
