Nose: Initial lighter fruit notes of red toffee apples, fresh pomegranate and honeydew melon give way to the warming influences of toasted almonds, and cinnamon iced Danish pastries. Palate: The quality of the oloroso casks takes centre stage here, with soft dark fruits, prunes, dates and raisins, all soaked in dry sherry and stewed in rich viscous brown sugars. Then warm date and walnut cake, nutmeg and sweetened cinnamon. Finish: Long and gently warming, malted fruit cake, poached plums with vanilla ice cream, soothing chocolate orange and mellow oak.
