Amoroso is an Oloroso Sherry that has been sweetened by adding PX Sherry to raise the residual sugar to 11% or more. It is the origin of Cream Sherry.
There is a distinctive sweetness on the nose, along with notes of golden raisin, some stone fruit, herbal aromas, cooked cereal, and a touch of the cold smoke that Talisker is known for.
The whisky is sweet, smooth, and creamy on the palate, with dried fruit, herbal notes, and a persistent cold, dry smoke in the background. The slightly smoky character marries well with the sweet, dried fruit notes characteristic of Amoroso Sherry.
The finish is long, sweet, and creamy, with medicinal aromas, lingering smoky notes, and pepperiness.
