Matured in five refill sherry butts, this unpeated single malt was distilled on Hogmanay in 1968 at Islay’s northernmost distillery (Bunnahabhain) and bottled at cask strength after the angels took their generous share. Distillation on Islay in the 1960s has become famed for producing magnificent spirit full of tropical fruit flavors, making whiskies like this an incredibly rare treat.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Fruity, combining both tropical and fruit: apples, pears, papaya and mango.
Palate: Bittersweet oranges, mangos and warming spice with contrasting mint and green-tea notes.
Finish: Fruit fades to leafy herbs which become warming and minty.
