Launched in 2015 inside Midleton Distillery, the Method and Madness microdistillery is the experimental arm of Irish Distillers — a “copper canvas” where masters mentor apprentices and new ideas take shape. The name, from Shakespeare’s Hamlet — “Though this be madness, yet there is method in’t” — captures its spirit of purposeful innovation.

This Single Grain whiskey, likely from a mixed-grain mash bill, is matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks for caramel and toffee sweetness, then finished for 12 months in toasted virgin Spanish oak from Galicia, adding spice, dried fruits, and depth. Bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, it’s earned Gold at the Irish Whiskey Awards in 2017, 2018, and 2019, plus multiple global accolades.
