Kilchoman Rockside 11 Years Old is a milestone release from Kilchoman — the distillery’s first permanent age-stated Single Farm Single Malt and a new addition to its core range.
The barley is grown on Kilchoman’s own 2,300-acre Rockside Farm, then floor malted, peated, distilled, matured and bottled at the distillery. It is a remarkably complete expression of Kilchoman’s farm-to-bottle philosophy.
Lightly peated to 20 PPM, Rockside allows more of Kilchoman’s naturally fruity spirit and farm-grown barley character to shine through. It is matured for 11 years in approximately 80% ex-bourbon and 20% ex-sherry casks.
Bottled at 46% ABV, naturally colored and non-chill filtered.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Orange and lemon zest, elderflower, honey and grilled pineapple with gentle maritime smoke.
Palate: Citrus, tropical fruit, barley sugar, toffee apple and salted caramel over soft Islay peat.
Finish: Warming and persistent with butterscotch, walnut, juicy stone fruit and coastal salinity.
Why it matters: Rockside brings together Islay-grown barley, traditional floor malting and complete on-site production in a mature, approachable whisky that captures what makes Kilchoman one of Islay’s most distinctive independent distilleries.
