Made from a mash bill of **95% rye and 5% malted barley**, the whiskey begins with Hudson’s classic rye character before undergoing a fascinating secondary maturation.

## A Barrel Goes to Scotland—and Comes Back

What makes Back Room Deal particularly interesting is the journey of the casks.

After maturing Hudson whiskey in New York, the emptied barrels are shipped across the Atlantic to **Scotland**, where they are used to mature heavily peated Scotch whisky. The barrels then make the return journey to the Hudson Valley, carrying their newly acquired smoky character with them.

Mature Hudson rye is subsequently placed back into these Scotch-seasoned casks for finishing.

The result is an unusual exchange of flavors:
