High N’ Wicked Singular Limited Releases

“Saints and Scholars” is High N’ Wicked’s Third expression in our line of Singular Limited releases.  It follows the Honorable in 2020 and The Wild Rover earlier in 2021.It is an 18 years Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey Distilled on November 20th, 2002 Distilled by Noel Sweeney at the Cooley Distillery in County Louth.  Noel, A 30 year veteran, is one of Ireland’s most accomplished and awarded Master Distiller’s and a member of the Whiskey Magazine’s prestigious Hall of Fame.

We acquired approximately 30 barrels, after tasting the complete collection, Noel declared that each barrel has sufficient nuance and character to be released as a single barrel whiskey at Cask Strength.  For the 2021 Saints and Scholars, Barrels 4344, 4354, 4373 and 4374 have been bottled for the US market.  We received barrel No 4340.

Aging: 18 Years in Second Fill Ex-Bourbon Barrels from Heaven Hill, Austin Nichols and Ancient Age.

Noel was involved in the selection of each barrel we are releasing.His Overarching Observations On Thee barrels are as of follows: The whiskey has been matured in second fill barrels and as such the character of the distillery distillate is more prominent than that of the barrel/oak.The colour is also a pale straw colour as a result of this.Ithas a familiar taste with varying degrees of spice, citrus fruits, some orchard fruits like red apple, honey, lemons, pears, pineapple, sweet malt biscuit character,aniseed which gives a confectionery sweetness, boiled sweets and a lingering dry finish.His individual tasting notes for each barrel are included in an elegant box the bottles are shipped in.

High N’ Wicked, based in Jackson, Wyoming, was formed to present and develop unique whiskies – releasing singular limited expressions annually that it deems worthy of its name.

The first release – HNW No. 1 “The Honorable” – was released in August 2020, a 12 Year Aged Straight Bourbon Whiskey finished in Ex-California Cabernet Barrels, and bottled at 45% ABV with no chill filtration.

Followed in August 2021 by HNW No. 2 “The Wild Rover” – a Triple Distilled Single Malt Irish Whiskey, Double-Cask Matured in Ex-Bourbon Barrels, followed by Ex-Pedro Jimenez Sherry Casks, bottled at 58.7% ABV (cask strength) with no chill filtration.

High n’ Wicked has also released a 5 Year Aged Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, produced in partnership with New Riff Distilling in Kentucky. It is currently only available in limited markets and limited quantities, but soon to expand.
