Gordon & MacPhail – Private Collection – Glentauchers 1979 – Aged 40 Years (53.6% ABV)

This single cask of Glentauchers was bottled in 2019 at 40 years of age. Filled into a refill American oak hogshead on June 7th of 1979 and bottled on the 12th of June 2019, only 153 bottles were produced. Bottled at a cask strength of 53.6% alc by vol without coloring or chillfiltration.

Nose: Sweet toffee and candied orange aromas with silky white chocolate and sugared violets. Tropical fruit notes come to the fore with hints of coconut and ripe banana. A nutty note lingers in the background.

Taste: Intense sweetness to begin then fading to reveal herbal aniseed and peppery notes. Dried tropical fruit; pineapple, lime, and coconut flavours complement madagascan vanilla pod.

Finish: Rounded, with lingering vanilla tones with an herbal edge.
