Godawan Series 02 Indian Single Malt Batch No. 1 (46% ABV)

Diageo launches Godawan, its artisanal single malty whisky, set to redefine the world of sustainable, modern & conscious Indian luxury. Godawan, is crafted in, its provenance inspired by, and dedicated wholeheartedly to this Rajasthani ethos – of beauty in scarcity, and sustainability. We proudly call ourselves “The Spirit of the Desert” – the spirit of Rajasthan with its culture, people and ecology which permeates in the character and flavor of our liquid.

Color : Golden Pale-Yellow color

Distillation :2 stage Copper pot distillation, aged in Ex – bourbon, matured in specific cask & Finished in Ex-Bourbon botanical conditioned cask. The unique whisky-making process involves: Slow-trickle distillation from locally sourced six-row barley as opposed to the two-row barley in Scotland with the high protein content of the former giving a unique flavor profile to the whisky; Goes through a long fermentation cycle of 55-65 hours; Uniquely matured at temperatures reaching 100°F; Finished in special casks selectively curated with Indian botanicals.

Aroma & Tasting Notes : The aridity means the “Angel’s share” is higher than average in Godawan – leaving behind a whisky with stunning taste profiles. The heat of over 100°F combined with six-row barley, that requires lesser water, helps create a whisky with an incredible depth of flavor, and a rich and complex character.

Godawan 02 is described as fruit and spicy, whose spicy intensity is brilliantly balanced with creamy vanilla notes. On the nose, we can expect candied figs, vanilla, pepper, mace and dry apricots. Upon taking a sip, almost tastes like flambeed Christmas pudding, goes mellowing like an old malt, there’s almost like nougat flavor, giving a very light crisp & buttery mouthfeel, very unconventional approach to a single malt, someone who likes to experiment would fall in love.
