The GlenAllachie 13 Year Old Madeira Wood Finish is a limited-release Speyside single malt bottled exclusively for ImpEx Beverages and the U.S. market, showcasing Billy Walker’s celebrated approach to wood management.
The whisky was initially matured for over 11 years in American oak barrels before being transferred into carefully selected Madeira barriques previously used to mature wine made from Malvasia grapes, one of the richer and more expressive styles of Madeira. The secondary maturation adds layers of tropical and stone fruit, sweetness and spice to GlenAllachie’s naturally rich, honeyed spirit.
Bottled at a robust 54.3% ABV (108.6 proof), this U.S.-exclusive edition was released in a limited quantity of just 3,792 bottles.
Tasting Notes
Color: Orange gold.
Nose: Waves of vanilla and ripe apricot with plantain, almonds, peaches and juicy pineapple.
Palate: Rich vanilla and treacle lead into apricot and peach, followed by almonds, grapefruit and tropical pineapple.
Finish: Long and warming, with lingering stone fruit, tropical sweetness, citrus and gently drying oak spice.
