Foursquare Exceptional Cask Selection Mark XXX – Penultimus, 15 years old, 57% abv

An exceptional distillery from Barbados, Foursquare has become a global benchmark for purity, authenticity, and precision. Founded and run by Richard Seale, the distillery is celebrated for its uncompromising approach to rum-making, combining tradition and innovation to produce spirits of remarkable depth and character.

Foursquare Penultimus is the 30th release in the Exceptional Cask Selection (ECS) series and, as the name suggests, the second-to-last bottling in the range.

This release is a 15-year-old rum bottled at 57% ABV, crafted from a blend of distillates produced on both Foursquare’s double retort copper pot still and twin-column Coffey still. The maturation is a combination of:

15 years in ex-bourbon cask rum
10 years in ex-bourbon cask rum, followed by a further 5 years in ex-Moscatel cask
(dual maturation)

The result is a rum of great richness and complexity, balancing intensity, finesse, and structure. Penultimus showcases the hallmark elegance of Barbados rum while highlighting Foursquare’s mastery of cask management and blending.
