FEW Spirits Flaming Lips Brainville Rye Whiskey
$124.99
FEW Spirits collaborated with psychedelic rockstar Wayne Coyne and his band The Flaming Lips to create a unique rye whiskey. Dubbed “Brainville Rye” (after the namesake The Flaming Lips song), it’s made from a mash of 70 percent rye, 20 percent corn and 10 percent malted barley, most of which is grown within 150 miles of the Evanston, IL distillery.
“As with FEW’s flagship rye, it’s fermented using a French wine yeast from the Loire Valley, which adds a lot of fruity flavors you don’t normally find in rye whiskey,” says FEW distillery founder and distiller Paul Hletko. “We blended together a set of barrels with an eye toward creating a unique flavor profile that’s fairly different from our usual rye.”
Wayne Coyne describes it as no other man can: “Whiskey… it’s such a volatile drink. Upon pouring a drink It’s like accepting that you may become a werewolf … and really … Who doesn’t want to become a werewolf??? Ha…”
Our market was given 30 bottles, total. Fire your orders quickly on this one because it’s going to disappear.
Down a dark back alley in Evanston, Illinois, you will find an old chop-shop making flavorful whiskey and gin. From grain-to-glass and wild a bold, Chicago-style twist. Proof, as ever, that appearances can be deceptive.
FEW makes handcrafted, small-batch spirits, born in the home of temperance. For nearly a century, Evanston was a dry city. FEW Spirits founder Paul Hletko recognized the laws were in need of a dire change, and so he fought to have these laws overturned, with FEW becoming the first distiller of grain spirits in the city limits.
FEW Spirits: Made of equal parts craft and courage, and always 100% grain-to-glass.
