Winemaker Notes
Deep garnet in color, intoxicating aromas of purple fruits and wild flowers are underscored by notes of cherries, roses, and baking spices. On the palate, it is elegant, with a long spicy finish. This wine manages to be weightless and intoxicating at the same time.
Pairs well with slow-roasted beef, demi-glaces, grilled pork and apples, and Beef Wellington.
Professional Ratings
94 Jeb Dunnuck
A medium ruby/red hue, the 2021 Barbaresco Santo Stefano is ripe with a lovely perfume of wild strawberries, crushed roses, bergamot, and clove. Very nicely styled as well, it’s medium-bodied and has ripe tannins and good concentration. It’s elegant red with noble structure, but at the same time, it’s weightless and very well done. Drink 2025-2037.
92 James Suckling
A rich, lightly tarry nose with dark berry notes complemented by spices and a touch of nutmeg. The palate is focused and fresh, offering a medium body and vibrant acidity that energizes and extends the wine. Firm, well-integrated tannins. Lingering and mineral-laden finish.
