Cazcanes No. 7 Extra Añejo is a meticulously crafted small-batch tequila, aged an average of 37 months in re-charred American oak barrels previously used by Jack Daniel’s, Jim Beam, Clermont, and Four Roses. Blended to taste rather than by time, it’s designed to showcase the tequila’s bold agave character while maintaining balance and restraint—never allowing oak to overpower the spirit’s natural essence.
Produced in Amatitán, Jalisco, Cazcanes No. 7 Extra Añejo is made from 100% organic Blue Weber agave and natural volcanic spring water sourced from Navichi Springs near Hostotipaquillo. A small portion of the blend is finished with French oak staves, adding layers of depth, refined texture, and subtle complexity before final integration.
The result is an elegant and expressive Extra Añejo that reveals roasted agave, vanilla, dark chocolate, butterscotch, toasted oak, dried fruit, and warm baking spices, culminating in a long, harmonious finish that captures the perfect union of agave purity and barrel-aged sophistication.
Cazcanes Tequila was founded in 2015, with its first release arriving in 2017. Though young, its inspiration runs deep — the name honors the Cazcanes, the last native Mexicans conquered by the Spaniards, and the spirit itself is said to be based on a 300-year-old indigenous recipe discovered in a jungle still. Produced in Amatitán, Jalisco, at NOM 1614 (Tequilera Tap), Cazcanes is a small-batch, additive-free tequila crafted from 100% organic lowland Blue Weber agave and single-source natural spring water.
Every step of the process — from slow autoclave cooking and open-air fermentation to traditional pot distillation — is designed to preserve the agave’s true character. The brand’s unique numbering system corresponds to proof rather than age: No. 7 (80 proof), No. 9 (100 proof), and No. 10 (still strength, ~108 proof). This approach allows drinkers to experience the same pure tequila at varying intensities, showcasing how proof alone can shape flavor and texture.
In addition to its blanco range, Cazcanes offers aged expressions like Reposado and Añejo, as well as limited Rosa and Single Barrel releases. Known for its purity, minerality, and depth, Cazcanes has earned a strong following among bartenders and collectors who value transparency, authenticity, and the raw beauty of agave distilled without compromise.
