Medium garnet in color, this wine offers a nose of black currant, raspberry and thyme. It is soft on the palate, with velvet tannins and flavors of black cherry, strawberry, cocoa powder and caramel. There is an undertone of bright fruit that lasts from first sip through the satisfying finish. Layers of complex aromas and flavors – plum, raspberry and mature red fruits blend harmoniously with flavors of vanilla and spice resulting from three years oak aging in American and French barrels. The palate is smooth, well balanced and elegant. To be labelled Reserva it has to follow strict Rioja wine laws – aged for a minimum of 3 years including at least 12 months in oak (this one got aged for 30 months in oak and 6 months in bottle). With several years under its belt already this is a beautifully aged, smooth and mellow with plenty of bold, powerful red fruit flavours.
