Booker’s “Phantom Pipes” is the fourth and final release in the 2025 Booker’s Bourbon collection—a big, unapologetic barrel-proof bourbon carrying on Booker Noe’s philosophy of bottling whiskey uncut and unfiltered.

Aged for exactly 7 years, 6 months and 15 days and bottled at a formidable 126.4 proof (63.2% ABV), Phantom Pipes brings together barrels from five different production dates and multiple warehouse locations. The result is classic Booker’s: powerful, mature, richly textured and packed with Kentucky bourbon character.

Why “Phantom Pipes”?

The wonderfully odd name comes from a discovery made by engineers at the distillery—a network of old pipes running through the facility that seemingly led nowhere.

The pipes were a remnant of Booker Noe’s years of experimentation. Booker was constantly tinkering with distillery equipment and finding new ways to connect things together. Maintenance crews would sometimes remove his improvised pipework at night, only to find Booker putting it back the following morning.

Eventually, they simply left the pipes in place. Sections remain visible across the distillery ceiling today—a fitting monument to Booker’s stubborn ingenuity and his determination to do things his own way.

The Batch

Phantom Pipes was assembled from barrels matured across five different warehouse locations and floors:

• 11% — 5th floor of 7-story Warehouse 1
• 30% — 6th floor of 7-story Warehouse G (Waterfill)
• 9% — 3rd floor of 7-story Warehouse O
• 28% — 5th floor of 7-story Warehouse 4

This diversity of warehouse locations gives the batch a broad range of maturation influences while maintaining the rich, muscular character for which Booker’s has become known.

Tasting Notes

Nose
A generous opening of vanilla and mature oak, with caramelized sweetness, toasted nuts and warming spice developing in the glass.

Palate
Big, bold and full-bodied. Rich caramel, vanilla and brown sugar meet toasted oak and roasted nut character, backed by cinnamon and warming baking spices. At 126.4 proof, there is plenty of power, but also the depth and concentration expected from a mature Booker’s release.

Finish
Long, warming and persistent, with lingering vanilla, oak and spice. A few drops of water can open the whiskey beautifully, revealing additional sweetness and softer layers beneath the barrel-proof intensity.

Booker’s Bourbon was created by legendary Beam Master Distiller Booker Noe, grandson of Jim Beam and sixth-generation member of the Beam family.

Booker originally selected special barrels from favored warehouse locations and bottled the whiskey at its natural strength for friends and family. That philosophy became Booker’s Bourbon: mature Kentucky straight bourbon released in individually identified batches and presented uncut and unfiltered.
