America's New Favorite Spirit:
Tequila, Mezcal, and other agave spirits are not just something we drink on Cinco de Mayo. Americans now drink more Tequila and Mezcal than anyone else in the world, and they were among the fastest growing spirits categories in 2021. Agave spirits have surpassed both rum and bourbon in sales by volume and are even projected to overtake Vodka as America’s favorite spirit in the near future!
Just as we've explored other spirits and cultures, we are now beginning to learn about the complexity and nuances of agave based spirits. The world of agave spirits may seem daunting: Tequila, Mezcal, Bacanora, Raicilla, and more... and the more you know, the more there is to KNOW! But don’t worry, Norfolk Wine & Spirits has you covered.
Over the next several months, we'll take you on an agave road trip through Mexico. Get your passport ready. We're going on a SIX month road trip!
What Is Passport: A Roadtrip Through Mexico?
Norfolk Wine & Spirits is hosting 11 agave centric events beginning in July 2022 and running through December 2022! Learn how to taste and enjoy agave spirits such as Tequila, Mezcal, Bacanora, Raicilla, and Sotol, how to make agave based cocktails, and how to pair agave spirits with food.
Events will start with a basic introduction to agave spirits and gradually increase in specificity of each category, history, and production methods. We'll also meet with Master Distillers (Mezcaleros), Owners, Brand Ambassadors, and agave experts!
Every attendee will be provided a “Passport” that will be stamped at every tasting. The top 10 customers with the most stamped trips (participation in events) will earn a complimentary ticket to the 11th and final destination: an Agave Unicorn Tasting around New Year’s Eve valued at $100-$150!
