Tasting: Highland Park Single Malt Scotch Whisky with Liam Devin

Highland Park is a distillery from the Isle of Orkney, Scotland, considered for some to make one of the best whiskies in the world. This remote location gives access to unique heather peat from the distillery’s own moor, water from the same spring that has fed the distillery for more than 200 years, and the cool, maritime climate that allows the spirit to interact gently with the carefully-chosen oak casks and develop into the fabulously rich, layered whisky that is consistently lauded by connoisseurs and experts. 

The distillery is one of the few in the world still using traditional floor malting. The use of Spanish oak to mature most of its core expressions, and the quality and subtlety of its peat make Highland Park a great whisky for those interested in seriously beginning the exploration of smokey whiskies. The brand discontinued its core 15 years old expression back in 2017, but Highland Park 15 Years Old has recently relaunched in gorgeous ceramic embossed bottles.
