Bruichladich Watch Party and Tasting

Details

  • Date: February 13, 2021
  • Time:
    12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Join us on Saturday, February 13th, at 12:00 PM, for a watch party and virtual release of a new movie presented by Bruichladdich. Hosted by Jason Cousins (Bruichladdich Brand Development Manager, New England) with the participation of Raymond Tibbs, Islay-based Bruichladdich ambassador.

In this event, we will watch from our homes The Water of Life with a lunch menu for two designed by The Curry House to pair with Bruichladdich malts.

The Water of Life is a feature documentary that focuses on the craftsmen, chemists, and renegades at the heart of the whisky revolution that turned the stagnant scotch whisky industry of the 1980s into the titan it is today. Starting behind the locked gates of an abandoned distillery, Jim McEwan and Mark Reynier share their personal experiences of the risk-taking and wild experimentation they used to turn Bruichladdich into what it is today. The film takes you on the journeys of other early visionaries like Gordon & MacPhail, Billy Walker, Dr. Rachel Barrie and David Stewart, whose mixture of talent, chemistry, hard work, grit, and a little sprinkle of magic paved the way for the next generation of innovators like Adam Hannett, Kelsey McKechnie, Liam Hughes, Iain Croucher, and Eddie Brook.

The Classic Laddie Scottish Barley is an unpeated whisky from Islay at 50% ABV and comes in an iconic turquoise bottle that represents Bruichladdich philosophy: “We have no interest in consistency or uniformity, instead – year by year – the variety and provenance of our barley shapes our spirit, and an ever-increasing range of casks are sourced to evolve the suite of flavors in our warehouse. Each batch of the Classic Laddie will, by nature, be unique and subtly different, but it is ultimately our Head Distiller who curates this assemblage of our finest spirits, to showcase the classic, floral and elegant Bruichladdich house style.”

Port Charlotte 10 Year Old Heavily Peated is a peated whisky from Islay at 50% ABV, peated at 40 PPM. It uses 100% Scottish Barley, and it’s matured with the following composition: 65% 1stFill American Oak Cask, 10% 2nd Fill American Oak Cask, 25% 2nd Fill French Wine Cask. Taste descriptor: barbecue smokiness, rich and spicy with sweet malty notes. “We are a young team with deep-rooted values, and an ambition to make the ultimate “Islay” Islay whisky. A whisky made by people not software; a whisky watched over every day of its maturing life by those who made it; a whisky born of a community with a vision and a mission to kick start a single malt whisky revolution, this Port Charlotte 10 year old is who we are. This is where we’re from.”
