Tenuta di Arceno produces two expressions of wine guided by the diverse terroir of the estate. One is three DOCG wines: Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva and Chianti Classico Gran Selezione – Strada al Sasso. All are a true reflection of its terroir and are 100% estate grown and bottled. For centuries, the best Chianti has been produced from within the Chianti Classico region in the hills of Tuscany. The estate lies among these hills and it is home to these special Chianti Classico wines, each 90% Sangiovese & 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Tasting Notes
2012 was nearly a year of drought, but August rains came and harmonized the vineyards. The vintage is characterized by low yields and balance, especially with regards to the fruit and acidity. The nose is expressive with high tones of sweet roses and spice. The fruit profile is a competition of vibrant raspberries and black cherry liquor giving way to earthy tones of cedar and sweet tobacco. The tannins are soft and mouth-filling, framed by bright acidity.

2013 has iImpressive intensity of fruit with blueberry, blackberry and raspberry character yet a linear acidity and tannin backbone that cuts through the middle of the wine. Fresh and savory, it offers classic Sangiovese sensations of violet, red berry, black cherry, tilled soil and dark spice. It’s medium bodied and balanced, with bright acidity and refined tannins. An aniseed note marks the close.
