Barao de Vilar Porto Vintage 2016

A beautifully balanced, rich wine, this has great tannins, a dense, firm texture and luscious blackberry fruits. It shows the structure of the vintage while also bringing a fresher element. Jammy but never cloying, this is an impressive wine for the long term. The grapes carefully selected for this wine, were harvested by hand and transported in small boxes to the winery. The fermentation occurred in old stone vats called “lagares”, with temperature control. This is an exceptional Vintage Port from the harvest of 2016, a “declared” Vintage. Bottled in July 2018, after almost 2 years in large oak vats, this Vintage finishes its ageing process in bottle . Throughout the ageing period, the wine softens, gaining structure and complexity. Drink from 2019.
